Toowoomba sits up on the Great Dividing Range, about 130 km west of Brisbane Airport โ roughly an hour and three-quarters via the Warrego Highway. Public transport out to the Downs is slow and infrequent, so a door-to-door transfer is the simple way to arrive with your bags and your day intact.
Ways to get from BNE to Toowoomba
There's no train and limited coach service, so it comes down to comfort and time:
Private transfer
Door to door, one vehicle, driver tracks your flight and waits. No changes, no stairs with bags. Best for groups, late arrivals and business travellers.
Coach / bus
Scheduled coaches run from Brisbane to Toowoomba. Cheaper solo, but fixed timetables, a city transfer first, and luggage limits.
Rideshare / taxi
A 130 km run up the range on a meter or with surge pricing gets expensive fast โ and drivers can be scarce for the return.
Self-drive hire car
Freedom once you're there, but you're driving up the range tired after a flight, then paying for parking.
Travelling for business or as a group? A fixed-fare private transfer is the calmest way up to Toowoomba.

The drive: what to expect
From the airport your driver heads west on the Warrego Highway across the Lockyer Valley, then climbs the Toowoomba Range to the city on top โ or takes the newer Toowoomba Bypass to skip the town traffic. It's a comfortable run of around an hour and three-quarters in normal traffic, dropping you right at your Toowoomba address.
Toowoomba sits about 700 m above sea level, so it can be cooler and occasionally foggy on top when Brisbane is warm โ pack a layer. We watch the range conditions and your flight so the timing works out.
Want to break the trip? Ask about a stop in the Lockyer Valley on the way โ our drivers know the good ones.
